Chapter 20 – Dispute

“Uhh… about this…” This was bad! He actually knew about her real identity!! But it wasn’t that strange either, because he did, after all, follow them all the way here.

However… why did Jia Qizhe say that he couldn’t detect anyone? He must’ve lied to her! Dammit!!

“Ha! ha! ha!” Gu Qingyu weakly laughed, “So you found me out…”

“Do you think there’s anything in this world that could be hidden from me?” Under the bright moonlight, Xue Zang’s smile appeared very captivating, it was even more pure and flawless than before, causing contradictions.

“Not at all.” Gu Qingyu shrugged, “Sooo, I still have to inspect the area It’s getting late and I have wasted too much time with you. See! You!!”

“Then I’ll just not bother you anymore?” Xue Zang surprisingly didn’t continue to pester her.

“And also!” Before he left, Gu Qingyu said in a soft tone, “Stop following us around,” She paused, a tragic expression on her face, “We’re really no fun.”

“No, no, no,” Xue Zang elegantly waved his finger, “I’ll still be around. See you again if we’re fated to meet~”

After he finished speaking, he vanished..

Spiteful! Curse him! Damn, damn it!! ‘See you again if we’re fated to meet’?? Heck, you see me everyday, okay?!

“Pssst.” Gu Qingyu turned her head in disdain, and spotted… “Jia Qizhe!! You…” She asked, “Did you already finish?”

“Yeah, “ Jia Qizhe smiled at her, “What about your side?”

“I…” Gu Qingyu secretly rejoiced, “Thank god! It seems that he didn’t see Xue Zang!! But, the sad part is that I haven’t done anything…”

Yiii? How did this paper scroll suddenly… appear in her hand?

Gu Qingyu unfolded it by reflex, and discovered… that it was a map of the her surroundings!! Not only that! Even the insides of the Imperial Palace were roughly drawn, and there were even a couple of escape routes!!

Jia Qizhe curiously took it and looked, he was stunned momentarily, “You… how did you do this?”

“Hoho~! Are you surprised?” Gu Qingyu suddenly felt immense gratitude and admiration towards Xue Zang, like the waters of a surging river overflowing its banks. “Don’t ask me how, I am just this amazing! Huh? Jia Qizhe? Where did you go? Hello? Where’s my map???? Hey— Jia Qizhe, wait for me!!”

She frantically chased in hot pursuit and finally reached the inn at the end. Who would’ve imagined that the bastard had already been there for a while? He even went through the plan with everyone, and oh my god everyone was getting ready to leave…

Gu Qingyu gasped for air, “Are you saying that… I have to go for another round with you all?!”

“Yeah…” Mo Bai hesitated, but his eyes were still as tender, “Sorry, Miss Gu.”

“Why are you the one apologizing!” Gu Qingyu felt aggrieved, “Jia Qizhe! Come here and apologize properly to me!!”

“Why?” He looked at her oddly, “Why should I apologize?”

“You abandoned me!” Gu Qingyu frowned, she knew that acting up like this would make him unhappy, and also a bit too much, but he went too far earlier! And, for some unknown reason, in her heart, dwelled a… formless anger that burned like a raging fire!

“Sigh,” Jia Qizhe acted as if this was beneath him, “You want an apology because I left you? I suppose you’ve never tasted the feel of being cast off.”

“No! I have!!” Gu Qingyu yelled out, “I watched helplessly with my own eyes, when my most beloved abandoned me! You’ll never understand that kind of feeling!!”

She burst out out the room as she finished her sentence.

Soon after, someone came for her.

“Miss Gu, are you alright?” A soft and tender voice, it was Mo Bai.

“Mo Bai…” Gu Qingyu shook her head, “Let’s go, the mission is more important.”

“Ok…” He sounded quite worried.

And so, the party arrived at the Imperial Palace. Jia Qizhe had planned a few routes in advance, and divided them into teams. Operation start.

Miraculously, Gu Qingyu ended up in the same team as Jia Qizhe.

The second team consisted of Qi Yichen and Mo Bai, and they were in charge of getting rid of obstacles, to disclose information and drawing away the guards for the first team. Jia Qizhe and Gu Qingyu were in charge of infiltrating the palace, and to find Murong Ranyue. And lastly, Little Qi was to stay outside, and come to the rescue in case something went wrong.

“…” Gu Qingyu stayed silent the whole journey.

“What is it?” asked Jia Qizhe sporadically.

“…” Silence.

“Are you angry?”

“…” Continuous silence.

“What?” Gu Qingyu finally spoke.

“Did you listen to what I just said?” mumbled Jia Qizhe.

Gu Qingyu shook her head.

“…” This time, Jia Qizhe turned quiet, “Are you angry?”

Gu Qingyu shook her head again.

“Then what?” Jia Qizhe stopped in his steps.

Because of his speed, she kept walking behind him closely. So when he stopped all of a sudden, she bumped right into him.

“What are you doing?!!” Gu Qingyu could only helplessly yell in a low voice, so that they wouldn’t get discovered.

“You are being absent-minded, do you realize how it could affect our current mission?” Jia Qizhe spoke in a serious tone, “Please settle your thoughts and be more attentive! This is not a game, this is the Imperial Palace, it’s a matter of life and death!”

“Why am I not sensing the slightest bit of danger then?” said Gu Qingyu as she scratched her head.

“Sigh—” All he could do was to let out a lengthy sigh, “If you’re not angry, then stop acting so distracted. Follow me closely.”

“Ok…” Gu Qingyu sped up her pace.

Soft, gentle footsteps echoed through the hallway.
