Happy Lunar New Year everyone! Welcome to the year of the dog, and may everything be 十犬十美 this year!
The end of the countdown is here! What better way to start off the new year than with a binge reading fest? We’re absolutely delighted today to welcome Sundering Nature, written by Teacher Clear River and translated by the Rotten Translations Team Grenn and Undecided Pie! (They also work on fantastic Bone Painting Coroner!)
Amidst the plethora of ancient China or alternate world fantasies out there, we’re bringing you a novel of an average Joe in our modern world, embroiled in something much greater than the reality he knows. There’s a bigger plot that necessitates his fulfillment, or… is he supposed to wreak havoc on everything instead?
From the novel itself:
To be is to have a soul. The soul begets a will. Wills accumulate into mysterious psychic forces, weaving secret domains within the fabric of reality.
Li Yiming, a gentle and kind-hearted person, was embroiled in this secret facade of reality against his will. Was it a coincidence, or was it preordained by fate? Dao techniques, artifacts, fantastic beasts, supernatural abilities… Within these secret domains governed by Heavenly Laws, his true identity incites great suspicion from all. A plan concocted for millennia — will he be the one to derail Heaven’s laws, or the one to sunder Nature’s fetters?
This is quite a challenge to translate because the plot will be with our MC, a new graduate, one second and in the other literally depart earth as we know it and somehow end up in a metaphysical discussion. It is quite a ride, and Grenn and Undecided Pie do a simply wonderful job of translating it!
There’s already almost 20 chapters out (that’s the entire first book), and there will be double dailies for the first week, followed by daily releases during the next before the schedule settles down at a stately chapter every other day. Come revel in this modern fantasy and give a warm welcome to Sundering Nature!
